2007 MLS Cup
The MLS Cup is the final game of the MLS post-season, officially recognized as the championship of the league. The winner, along with the MLS Supporters’ Shield winner or runner-up, represents the United States in the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup.

History

The first MLS Championship Cup was held at Foxboro Stadium outside of Boston in pouring rain and with steady winds in 1996. D.C. United came back from a two-goal deficit to seal a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy. Tony Sanneh was first to score for United and then Shawn Medved followed his lead, equalizing the game in the 82nd minute of play.

The match entered the golden goal overtime period and Eddie Pope drove a header from the near post past Jorge Campos to give United the honor of being the first club to raise the Alan I. Rothenberg Trophy.

Halftime shows

Finales of all major sports witness large scale halftime shows packed with celebrity performances and festivities and the MLS Cup halftime is no different. Christina Aguilera, Paulina Rubio, Switchfoot and The Click Five have made the spectators dance to their tunes in the past games. Under the Influence of Giants was the 2006 MLS Cup’s star attraction.
