Freestyle Motocross 2008 - It’s Not All Fun and Games
Daredevil stunts and pro motorcycle riders – these sum up the Freestyle Motocross, a variation on the sport of Motocross in which motorcycle riders attempt to impress judges with jumps and stunts. All set to roar in is the 2008 edition of Freestyle Motocross. There will be 2 events – one in January and one in February and both promise to be a perfect blend of entertainment and adrenaline rushing competition.

Commonly known as FMX or Moto-X, Freestyle Motocross finds its origins in the sport of Motocross and has emerged as one of the fastest growing sports of the new millennium, while also being one of the most watched sports at the various extreme sports competitions. Notable Freestyle Motocross events include Red Bull X-Fighters, the X-Games, Gravity Games, Big-X, Moto-X Freestyle National Championship and Dew Action Sports Tour.
A freestyle motocross course can span an area of a couple of acres and riders can expect to tackle several jumps of varying angles and lengths. Their performance will then be assessed by a panel of judges who assign them a score based on their ability to complete various tricks while utilizing a combination of jumps.
Unlike traditional Motocross, Freestyle Motocross places less emphasis on high speeds and more on the abilities of daredevil riders who perform thrilling and death-defying stunts high in the air. The mesmerizing jumps are usually performed over a stretch of upto 150 feet with the combination of suspense, danger and the unknown, providing an excellent form of entertainment for various shows and events.
Equipment
Freestyle Motocross riders generally use the same equipment as Motocross racers which include boots, helmets, jerseys, pants, gloves, goggles and jackets. They are all brightly colored and designed to minimize injury. A helmet is the most important part of the gear.
Tricks
The most admired and difficult Freestyle Motocross tricks include - Cliffhanger, Dead Body, Hart Attack, Kiss of Death, Rodeo Air and Suicide Can. In 2006, Travis Pastrana did the world’s first double backflip. It is now considered the most difficult trick.
2008 Freestyle Motocross
The 2008 Freestyle Motocross will feature 2 events - on 26 January, 2008 at the Mellon Arena, Pittsburgh and on 9 February, 2008 at the Palace Of Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills. The events, as always, will be dangerous, exciting and awe-inspiring.
