Born to a working class family in Freehold, New Jersey in 1949, Bruce fell in love with Rock ‘n Roll after watching the Ed Sullivan Show one night. Elvis performed that night and inspired the Boss to start a career in music. Despite repeated objection from his father, Bruce pursued his music interests. These tiffs with his father inspired some of Springsteen’s best loved songs.
In 1972, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band was offered to sign his first contract with Columbia Records. In spite of the fact that his first albums did not sell well, the band received some positive critics. Bruce’s career began to develop rather promptly and soon he was giving his concerts at the biggest stadiums and arenas of the world. His famous ‘Born in the USA’ was a real breakout.
Bruce Springsteen finally broke through to national recognition after 10 years of hard work and was hailed as the savior of Rock ‘n Roll, the single artist who brought together all the exuberance of ’50s Rock and the thoughtfulness of ’60s Rock, molded into a ’70s style - rocking as hard as Jerry Lee Lewis with lyrics as complicated as Bob Dylan’s - his concerts were near-religious celebrations of all that was best in music. In 1972, Springsteen landed on the covers of Time and Newsweek.
Since the start of his career, Bruce Springsteen has released 18 studio albums and 5 live albums. His talent and ability to express eloquently the everyday, ordinary problems helped him in wining 13 Grammy Awards and getting into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Besides in 2001 Bruce and his E Street Band received two technical Emmy Awards.
