Celine Dion has a secret. The chart-topping singer who has made her mark singing love ballads is all set to embark on her first world tour in nine years. The Canadian pop diva plans to hit major metropolitan areas across the globe in 2008. Celine Dion, born on March 30, 1968, is a Canadian singer and occasional songwriter and actress. The youngest in a highly musical family of 14, the singer has performed since the age of five. Her career took off when she won the gold medal at the Yamaha World Song Festival in Tokyo as well as the coveted Musician’s Award for Top Performer.
Commercial success came to Dion in the form of ‘Unison’ (1990), her first English album which hit a high note with the critics and gave Dion her first North American hit ”Where Does My Heart Beat Now’. After that, the star refused to look back and gave the world one hit after another, including the chart-buster ‘My Heart Will Go On’ (OST Titanic).
Taking Chances - Dion’s latest venture
Taking Chances is Celine Dion’s 13th English album. She worked with many different producers for this album, mainly on pop, rock and R&B songs. The tracks were recorded mostly during Dion’s summer holiday, between July 2 and August 15, 2007. The album features 16 tracks and, for the first time, Dion has experimented with hard metal and rock.

Celine Dion’s Taking Chances concert is a world tour the singer has undertaken to promote her latest album. She will be performing in 85 cities and deliver 101 shows. The concert will commence in Johannesburg, South Africa, on February 14, 2008 and end in Fort Lauderdale, America, on January 30, 2009. Dion will be performing many of her hits along with songs from her newest album. The show is being directed by Jamie King and promises to be a visual feast of color, fashion, dance and surprise.
