2008 NBA Season to Kick Start on October 28
The exciting start of the 2008 NBA season is just around the corner. Scheduled to begin on October 28, the 2008 basketball season will be the 63rd season of the legendary game. This will be the first basketball season since 1966-67 without a Seattle franchise. The Seattle SuperSonics have now moved to Oklahoma and are renamed the Oklahoma City Thunder. Also, this will be the first season in which Oklahoma City will have a team all to itself. The Thunder will play their home games at the Ford Center and will retain the Seattle’s franchise history. The old nickname, logo and colors will, although, be left behind for possible future use.
The 58th Annual NBA All-Star Game will be hosted by the Phoenix Suns on February 15, 2009.
Basketball has always been one of America’s most loved sports and came into being as one of the most loved pass times. Recognizing the growing love of football among Americans, the game attained a major sport position in 1946. On June 6, 1946, the league was founded as the Basketball Association of America and adopted the name National Basketball Association (NBA) in the autumn 1949 after merging with the rival National Basketball League.
The league’s several international as well as individual team offices are directed out of its head-offices located in the Olympic Tower in New York City. NBA Entertainment and NBA TV studios are directed out of offices located in Secaucus, New Jersey. Here is a peak into the wonderful and competitive NBA world.
