As March 23 drew to a close, we knew the teams that would go on to play the 2008 NCAA Basketball Regionals. By March 30, we would definitely know which of the eight teams would play in the Final Four. Last year was considered one of the most exciting college basketball seasons the world had witnessed lately, but the 2008 NCAA Basketball season changed that. Here is a quick recap of what has happened till now.

65 schools qualified to play in the single-elimination 2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, which began on March 18 with the Opening Round game. The Conference Tournaments followed which determined the teams qualified to play in the 1st and 2nd Rounds and Regionals. 1st and 2nd Rounds (Regionals’ quarterfinals) came next and the Regionals and Final Four will be played in the days to come.

East Regional - Charlotte, North Carolina

• First round (March 20-21) - 8 matches were played between the 16 teams representing the Eastern Region.

• Second round (March 22-23) - Winners of Round 1 qualified for Round 2. 4 matches were played between the 8 qualifying teams.

• East Regional Semifinals will be played on March 27. Two matches will be played (North Carolina vs. Washington St. & Louisville vs. Tennessee) and the 2 qualifying teams will meet in the East Regional Finals on March 29. The winner will advance to the 2008 Final Four.

Midwest Regionals - Detroit, Michigan

• First round (March 20-21) - 8 matches were played between the 16 teams representing the Midwestern Region.

• Second round (March 22-23) - Winners of Round 1 qualified for Round 2. 4 matches were played between the 8 qualifying teams.

• Midwest Regional Semifinals will be played on March 28. Two matches will be played (Kansas vs. Villanova & Wisconsin vs Davidson) and the 2 qualifying teams will meet in the Midwest Regional Finals on March 30. The winner will advance to the 2008 Final Four.

South Regional - Houston, Texas

• First round (March 20-21) - 8 matches were played between the 16 teams representing the Southern Region.

• Second round (March 22-23) - Winners of Round 1 qualified for Round 2. 4 matches were played between the 8 qualifying teams.

• South Regional Semifinals will be played on March 28. Two matches will be played (Memphis vs. Michigan St. & Stanford vs. Texas) and the 2 qualifying teams will meet in the South Regional Finals on March 30. The winner will advance to the 2008 Final Four.

West Regional - Phoenix, Arizona

• First round (March 20-21) - 8 matches were played between the 16 teams representing the Western Region.

• Second round (March 22-23) - Winners of Round 1 qualified for Round 2. 4 matches were played between the 8 qualifying teams.

• West Regional Semifinals will be played on March 27. Two matches will be played (UCLA vs. Western Kentucky &Â Xavier vs. West Virginia) and the 2 qualifying teams will meet in the West Regional Finals on March 29. The winner will advance to the 2008 Final Four.

2008 Final Four

The 2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four Tournament will be played from April 5-7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. April 5 will showcase the 2 National Semifinals and the Big Game, the National Final, is scheduled for April 7.
