Fans Are Now Ready for the 2009 Masters Tournament!
The 2008 Masters came to a close recently and the world is already preparing for the 2009 edition. The Masters Tournament, which is commonly referred to as The Masters or The U.S. Masters, is one of four major championships in men’s professional golf, the other three being the U.S. Open, British Open and the PGA Championship. The Masters is the first of the four to be played each year. The final round of the tournament is always scheduled for the second Sunday in April. Unlike the other major championships, the Masters is held every year at the same location, Augusta National Golf Club, a private golf club in the city of Augusta, Georgia.
Masters champions are automatically invited to play in the other three majors for the next five years and earn a lifetime invitation to the Masters.
The first Masters Tournament was held on March 22, 1934 and was won by Horton Smith.
