In 2008, because of the split between Daimler and Chrysler, Dodge, the brand Chrysler promotes in NASCAR, became the sponsor of the UAW-Dodge 400.

Raced as the Las Vegas 400, the inaugural UAW-Dodge 400 was raced on March 1, 1998. Mark Martin won the event and took home a purse of $313,900.
The first UAW-Dodge 400 was raced for 400.5 miles at an average speed of 146.55 mph.
