Motorcycle Racing

Motocycle Racing TicketsTwo wheelers have always been labeled as the "boy toys". They are the lean mean racing machines that bring the kind of thrill that no other vehicle can provide. Although motorcycles are dangerous in the event of an accident due to the low protection they offer, the speed thrill coupled with the excitement contribute in making them a highly desirable possession. Motorcycle sports are centered on this very desire and seek to provide viewers with acrobatic skills and daredevil stunts in order to dazzle them.

History of motorcycle racing

The first off road motorcycling event has its origins dating way back to 1924. This race was held in Surrey, England. Since then, the sport's popularity has been ever increasing and it became a global attraction in the early 1970s when it was being held in places like Japan, United States and Sweden. The sport has evolved into a number of diversified classes, like the Supermoto (race held on both tarmac and off road), Freestyle (stunts dominated race) etc.

Types of motorcycle racing events

These racing events can be broadly categorized into two forms, Motocross and Supercross (get tickets to AMA Supercross, Daytona Supercross, EA Sports Supercross, US Open Supercross and even World Supercross GP tickets now!).

Motocross is a form of motorcycle sport or all-terrain vehicle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits (get Freestyle Motocross tickets, IFMA Freestyle Motocross tickets and even Vans Triple Crown Freestyle Motocross tickets here!). The name "motocross" is a contraction derived from the words "Motorcycle" and "Cross Country". Supercross was derived from the Motocross sport. Although they are quite similar in a lot of respects, yet they are quite different from each other at the same time. Supercross generally refers to motocross events that are held in closed stadiums or arenas. In the early part of the 21st century, Supercross popularity soared and reached new heights. Today, it is the second most widely viewed motor sport event after the NASCAR races.

Differences in format

A motocross competition is often called "Moto". The highlight of these races is the off road experience. The rugged track often leads to very impressive stunts being performed by the racers and garners lots of applause from the fans. The Supercross differs in respect that it is an indoor event and consists of a shorter track which has been modified to seem like a natural rugged outdoor path. In the motocross the race is held over a period of time, while in Supercross it is determined by the number of laps completed. Supercross races are hugely publicized and attract a lot of media attention and big sponsorships.
